Since Australia’s recognition of Indonesian independence following the Second World War, Australian-Indonesia relations have been important for both nations through trade, defence and education and range of other social activities. Yet despite the proximity to Indonesia, there are concerns that the importance of better connections between Australian and Indonesia have been neglected.
I asked Charles Darwin University Associate Vice Chancellor Dr Nathan Franklin how effective the current government has been in engaging with Indonesia.
